Consumer confidence by country

Every economy Bullrun holds a reading for: 40 in all, ranked highest first. Costa Rica is the highest at 103.7 and Estonia the lowest at 94.6; the median is 99.1. Each row carries its own period and source, because these providers publish on different calendars - two rows in this table can be more than a year apart.

What this measures

Consumer confidence for 40 economies, on the same index as the business measure, where 100 is that country's own long-run average. The two disagree often and usefully: firms and households read different things, and a gap opening between them tends to come before a turn. Soft data, like the business measure - sentiment, not activity.

Source: OECD composite leading indicators, monthly. Coverage differs from metric to metric because these providers cover different sets of economies, and a gap is left as a gap rather than filled from a proxy - an absent economy is one we hold no reading for, never a zero. See the data license.
