What this measures
Real GDP growth adjusts for inflation, so it measures output rather than prices. The annual series is the World Bank's, covering 190 economies at the latest broadly reported year; annual GDP lags the current calendar year everywhere, which is why the quarterly panel below it exists. Growth is not a ranking of wealth: a small economy rebuilding from a low base can outgrow a large stable one for years.
Source: World Bank annual national accounts, with OECD and official sources for the quarterly panel. Coverage differs from metric to metric because these providers cover different sets of economies, and a gap is left as a gap rather than filled from a proxy - an absent economy is one we hold no reading for, never a zero.
